The Goddess of 1967 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

The Goddess of 1967 - Essay ExampleThe film, The goddess of 1967 (Law, 2000) has a duration of 118 minutes in which the viewer is invited to enshroud a beautiful physical landscape that parallels a bizarre and melancholy emotional landscape. Before immigrating to Australia, Clara Law, the theatre director of this film, had made a number of films in Hon Kong which won good reception also (Phillips, 2001). This particular film had earned entry into prestigious film festivals like Venice and Toronto film festival (Phillips, 2001). The theme of the film is a journey undertaken by two strangers- a man and a woman- under odd quite a little, and the recollections they make of their lives through which they heal themselves as well. On surface, it is for the sake of a car, the whole journey is undertaken, but deep inside it is a journey through ones own self for the protagonists. This was a movie that amaze its viewers so that they were divided into its fans and foes (Coyle, 2005, p.67). Only two things that are seemingly perfect in this film are 1) the car, which is a much coveted Citroen DS, and 2) the earthy beauty that encompasses the visual narrative of the film. Everything else is flawed- the minds of the characters, the brio situations and the memories. Yet the beauty of the car is paralleled by the beauty of the landscape in each frame in which they come forward together. And the film, like many other travel films, shows how the emotional wounds are healed by mutual understanding and companionship, by revisiting the past with a retrospective calmness. What the director tries to explain This film is about a lot many things including the mechanical life that one encounters in a city, the helplessness of tender existence, loneliness, crime and the baser elements of human mind. Chaudhuri (2007) has called this film based on themes of exile wherein the male protagonist is a temporary migrant in Australia and the female protagonist is alienated from her societ y and family in her own land and hence living a life of exile (p.122). Fung Cheu (2007) on the other hand has opined that the theme of this film is cultural dislocation (p.129). From a direct view point, this film has been also called the story of an abused woman (Fung Cheu, 2007, p.141) By making a car the major presence in this film, a car with a history, a car venerated as perfect and elegant in all times, the film contrasts the perfection of a machine with the liveliness of compensate a flawed human existence. A machine cannot sin against its design and it is built to be study, but a human being is prone to vices but fluent retains a hand full of godly moments in his/her life. In a feminist interpretation of the presence of this car in this film, some critics (Senzani and Florida Atlantic University, 2008) have said that the car represented a channel of escape for the abused women, and even a mobile home (p.431). It is also a depiction of how circumstances make and carve human characters. The film is made in such a way that this conclusion can be arrived at either with pessimism or optimism. The beauty of the film is in that it never advises the viewer to make either of this choice. The director herself has called this film an attempt to portray the dysfunctional character of contemporary life and personal relations (as cited by Phillips, 2001). The isolation that comes inevitably with urbanization, the bizarre ways in which humans try to relate, even by trying to love reptiles and strangers, and the distinct absence of a community around human lives, are some aspects that gets subtly discussed in this film.

Evidence based care on an Inflammatory process and therapy Assignment

Evidence based care on an Inflammatory growth and therapy - Assignment ExampleAccording to Karch (2013), the etiology of RA is indefinite. However, Karch (2013) notes that pathogenesis of RA has long been exposed and explicated by researchers. RA is exhibited in human beings when synovial cells resembling a place tumor invades and destroys articular cartilage, subchondral bone, tendons, and ligaments (1035). In other words, RA arises as a result of the immune system attacking the body. Though the exact cause of RA is not yet known, it is believed that permutation of genes coupled with environmental changes may prompt the onset of RA (Firestein, n.d). In individuals genetically predisposed to RA, some researchers believe that bacterial or viral infections could also prompt the onset of the disease (Firestein, n.d).According to Karrch (2013), RA development process commences with damage to small blood vessels accompanied by an elevation in the quantity of the cells making up the lini ng of the synovium. This is also accompanied by permeation of cells characterized by a single rounded nucleus, for instance, lymphocytes in blood vessels. Consequently, the synovium swells and subsequently extends above the surface of the joint thus forming protuberances (Karch, 2013).Symptoms of RA are majorly concentrated the foot and ankle of the affected individual. Major symptoms overwhelm swelling, reddening, softness, inflexibleness of the affected joints, and the affected individual in most cases also experiences exhaustion or general body weakness (Baert and Grampp, 2008). It is worth noting that joint rigidity usually occurs in the morning. Secondly, it is also important to note that practically all joints are affected by RA and hence symptoms may present themselves in all joints. There are also permanent defects such as inability to straighten the knee, wrists or fingers shift or drift in the bursting charge of the ulna, and swan neck deformity, which is a condition wh ereby

Related Studies Foreign EssayForeignLanger (Journal 2004 p. 76). The research team identified third types of teachers 1. Effective teachers in effective schools 2. Effective teachers in typical schools, and 3. Typical teachers in typical schools. In effective schools, students were beating the odds in rill scores, and the effective teachers there found their work encouraged and sustained by a supportive school and district climate that 1. Coordinates efforts to ameliorate student performance.2. Fosters teachers involvement in a variety of paid activities. 3. Creates instructional-improvement activities in ways that offer teacher a strong guts of agency. 4. Values commitment to the profession teaching.5. Engenders sympathize with toward students and colleagues, and 6. Fosters respect for cultivation as a normal part of life. Further more, the assumption in articles dealing with the teacher reflexion is that analysis of needs, problems, change processes, feeling of effic acy, beliefs are all factors that contribute to teaches professional knowledge, be it through enhanced cognitions or new or improved normals. Reflection is discussed and used in research in several ways. The studies in this decade centre primarily on reflection as an instrument for change and on the various ways in which reflection can be developed.A group of explicitly considers the contribution to reflection of narrative methods such as story telling (for example, about Professional increase School Experiences) and the construction of stories within professional information activities. (Breault, 2010), (Day and Leitch, 2001), (Doecke et al., 2000) and (Shank, 2006. Set in Lithuania Arl the U.S.A., the Article by Jurasaite-Harbison and Rex (2010) narrate two-year ethnographic study that looks at how teachers in three divergent types of schools perceive themselves as learners and how their school cultures create opportunities for teachers professional culture. On the basis of their findings, the authors conclude that the most productive conditions for informal workplace learning is a teacher culture that encourages and values collaborative learning. Evidence shows that professional development has an impact on teachers beliefs and behaviors. Evidence also indicates that the relationship between teachers beliefs and their practice is not straightforward or simple on the contrary, it is dialectic, moving back and forth between change in belief and change in classroom practice (Cobb, Wood, and Yackel, 1990 Frank et al., 1997 Thompson, 1992, in Nelson, 1999, p. 6) Wood and Bennett (2000) support this statement with the results of a study, in which a group of early childhood educators in England were helping to store info concerning their theories of play and their relationship to practice. As a result, these educators changed their own theories or teaching practices, or even both. Similar results are reported by Kettel and Sellas (1996) in a study of the de velopment of practical theory of student-teachers in Australia by Kallestad and Olweus (1998) in a study involving Norwegian teachers, which shows that teachers professional preparation and development drive a large impact on defining teachers goals for their students, and these goals in turn affect the teachers behavior in the classrooms and schools and also by Youngs (2001).Following the examination of data assessing the effects of four different models of professional development (teachers networks, the use of consultants and inter-visitations, students assessments and school improvement plans) on teachers professional development and school capacity in different part of the U.S.A, Youngs found that all models generally strengthened teachers knowledge, skills and dispositions, and they had varied effects on other aspects of school capacity. Yet, there is still a need for more research to be done in this area. According to the latest literature, some studies have been carried out as a result of this possibility. For example, research reported by Baker and Smith (1999) identified the following characteristics of professional development as being the most effective in sustaining change in teachers 1. A backbreaking emphasis on providing concrete, realistic and challenging goals 2. Activities that include both technical and conceptual aspects of instructions 3. Support from colleagues 4. Frequent opportunities for teachers to witness the effects that their efforts have on students learning. As Ingersoll (2001) reports Requiring teachers to teachers to teach classes for which they have not been trained or educated harms teachers and students (p.42). Ingersoll refers to data that show that most out-of-field teachers are more commonly found among first-time teachers, in low-income schools, small schools, and lower-achieving classes.Classes with out-of-field teachers usually generate lower student achievement. In her research, diminished (2001) discovered that i n restructuring schools, most of the official time devoted to professional development is based on the conception that professional development is a process of inspiration and goal setting where administrators have already set goals and objectives of change, and professional development activities are used to motivate teachers to strive to meet them.In summary, the professional development of teachers is a key factor in ensuring that reforms at any direct are effective. Successful professional development opportunities for teachers have a significant positive effect on students performance and learning. Thus, when the goal is to increase students learning and to improve their performance, the professional development of teachers should be considered a key factor, and this at the time must feature as an element in a larger reform. Little (2001).LocalDr. Manila (2002) is a newly-installed principal of a public secondary school in Baguio City which ranked second to the last in the ach ievement test in the previous school year. As an initial step to make the school one of the best in the city she selected several teachers to allow a professional development program that she designed, hoping to achieve the results she envisioned for the school. A year after the training, the principal expected a big improvement in the performance of their school. Unfortunately, there was no improvement in the schools devising. It is important that you learn to decide on what training is best for and what training should come first.Professional development programs are more effective when the individual needs of teachers are taken into account. The conduct of needs assessment must consider the critical skills areas that are take for successful performance. The strength and weaknesses of teachers in key areas that have been proven to impact directly on student achievement should be identified. In a think study entitled Continuing Professional and Technical Education in the Philipp ines by Divina Edralin, Ph.D., the authors recommendations may also be considered in making Continuing Professional Education serves its intended purpose among professional organizations. These are 1. Formation of a Unifying Human Resource Development Framework 2. freshen up of Matrix on Continuing Education 3. Greater access to cultivation, training, and retraining 4. Incentives for Professionals and Technical Workers 5. Needs identification and assessment 6. Effective integration of education and profession 7. Active tripartite cooperation and 8. Financing Scheme. Moreover, to keep Continuing Professional Education relevant to the professions, certain challenges have to be considered. Terso Tullao, Jr. 1999 (p. 32) underlines the need to refocus CPE programs towards research, grad education, inventions and publications. He adds Professional organizations should have their own journals reviewed by national or international experts. They should also sponsor professional lectures wh ere there distinguished members or removed experts are asked to discuss topics on their expertise. Similar to the quest of higher educational institutions to make research outputs of their professors declareed in international journals, professional organizations should encourage their members to publish in referred international journals.Ultimately, professionals must realize that they are the best architects of their personal professional development plans. They have to be more proactive and take the initiative in enhancing their competence and performance.According to Zenon Arthur S. Udani, Ph.D., 1995, on his study on Continuing Professional Educations Training and Developing Filipino Professionals Admist Globalization, Professional updates which trigger build-up in knowledge and related skills more professionals to the next stage of competence-building. As they realize that what they know and what they can do are no longer sufficient to be productive and effective professiona ls, competence-building becomes a more urgent concern. It calls not only for updates in professional school basic knowledge and skills, but also for education derived from pluralistic sources (continuing education for professions) found useful in assuming competence required by what professionals actually do for a living.
