In my opinion this picture portrays Krebs as a traditional American student who is full of manful pride in the bonding of his fraternity brothers, but I felt that he was unsure of his individualism as a man, for Hemmingway states that He enlisted in the marines (111) making this decision his choice only. Moreover, in the second image, There is a picture which shows him on the Rhine with two German girls and another corporeal (Hemingway 111).
